The kirs can signal the inhibitory or activate the signaling of the t cell and its ability to kill the foreign cells. First, they contribute to host immune responses, both innate and adaptive, through their expression by natural killer cells and t cells. In this regard, the authors provided data suggesting that kirs may negatively regulate the suppressive activity of kir + cd8 + t cells (li et al., 2022 ) Thus, kirs are not just a marker of cd8 + regulatory t cells, but also a tight controller of them. Kir genes form a rapidly evolving and diverse gene family.
